10 Best Versed Alternatives in 2026

The best Versed alternatives are Byoma, Hero Cosmetics, and The Inkey List. Versed is already the cheapest per ounce among the brands we could price ($2.00 per fl oz for its Day Dissolve cleanser), so the better reason to switch is a different job: barrier repair, breakout care, eczema-friendly seals, or a vegan-first line.

Versed is not a bad brand, and one long-term user on Reddit calls themselves "a lifer." Still, some shoppers are looking elsewhere, and the reasons are specific. This page matches ten brands to those reasons instead of just calling them cheaper.

How we picked these brands

  • One product, one price basis. We compared a single daily face cleanser per brand in USD per fl oz, from the brand's own product page, checked 2026-10-16. The Versed anchor is Day Dissolve Daily Gel Cleanser at $12.99 for 6.5 fl oz.
  • Buyable today. We looked for a real product on each brand's own store, and where we could not confirm one we say so. Claims about seals, vegan status, or B Corp status are the brand's claims, and we say so.
  • Matched to real reasons. We looked at why some shoppers leave Versed: a discontinued barrier balm, no UK stock, and breakouts for a few. That is a small sample (see below).
  • Honest gaps. Where we could not confirm a size or US price on the brand's page (Cocokind, Good Molecules, Bubble), we say so and give no per-ounce figure.
  • A useful range. We left out premium names priced at $20 to $70 per product, such as Aesop, Biossance, Youth to the People, and Farmacy.

Why shoppers look for Versed alternatives

The evidence is small: six Reddit quotes across four threads. Some shoppers were upset when the Overnight Barrier Balm was discontinued, and one asked for a "Budget conscious alternative." Another thread has UK shoppers who can't find Versed anymore. They believe it stopped selling there, though we found no company statement.

Two commenters report breakouts (one a user who also reports failures with other brands), one on the Ulta subreddit. Against that, a separate 40+ skincare thread praises barrier balms and moisturizers. Belle Brands announced the Versed acquisition on July 9, 2026.

1. Byoma

Byoma product
Byoma product

Byoma describes its line as "barrier-boosting skincare, driven by science, powered by actives." Founder Marc Elrick launched it in 2022, and it is sold at Target, Ulta, Sephora, SpaceNK, and Boots in the UK. One commenter in the barrier-balm thread called Byoma Barrier Repair "v similar" to the discontinued Versed balm and "might even be a touch better." That is one shopper, and we haven't tested it.

Its Creamy Jelly Cleanser is $12.99 for 5.91 fl oz ($2.20 per fl oz). Best for barrier-balm refugees with dry or sensitive skin. Pass if you want the absolute lowest price per ounce.

2. Hero Cosmetics

Hero Cosmetics product
Hero Cosmetics product

Hero Cosmetics is best known for Mighty Patch pimple patches. Co-founder Ju Rhyu started it in 2017 after a pimple emergency on sensitive skin. The brand says it restricts more than 2,400 potentially irritating ingredients. Church & Dwight closed its acquisition of Hero on October 13, 2022, for $630 million, according to a summary of its SEC filing.

The Gentle Cleanser is $10.99 for 5.07 fl oz ($2.17 per fl oz). Take Hero over Byoma if breakouts are your main issue. Skip it if you want a barrier-repair line.

3. The Inkey List

The Inkey List product

The Inkey List was founded in 2018 by Colette Laxton and Mark Curry. The brand says its own-brand products are approved under the Leaping Bunny programme. It has regional stores, including UK, EU, and Canada.

The Hydrating Cream to Milk Cleanser is $20.00 for 240 ml (8.12 fl oz, $2.46 per fl oz), rated 4.8 stars from 233 reviews on its page. Best for beginners who want plain, affordable actives. If you want vegan status confirmed, look at Pacifica instead, since Inkey's about page doesn't mention it.

4. Naturium

Naturium product

Naturium states its philosophy as "the science of consistent skincare to every one, every where, every day." It lists itself as vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologist-tested, which are the brand's claims.

The Niacinamide Cleansing Gelee 3% is $18.00 for 7.1 fl oz ($2.54 per fl oz). Best for shoppers who want niacinamide and other actives in their routine. It's a weaker fit if you mainly need soothing for eczema, where Tower 28 and Cocokind are the better match.

5. Pacifica Beauty

Pacifica Beauty product

Pacifica Beauty calls its founders "beauty activists since 1996" under Brook Harvey-Taylor. The brand says its ingredients are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, with "over 1,800 ingredients we will never use."

The Vegan Ceramide Extra Gentle Face Wash is $12.00 for 5 fl oz ($2.40 per fl oz). Best for vegan-first shoppers. Shoppers focused on third-party eczema seals should look elsewhere.

6. Cocokind

Cocokind product

Cocokind is led by founder and CEO Priscilla Tsai. It says it "sets fair prices based on what's inside the bottle." Its Milky-Soft Face and Body Cleanser is listed as accepted by the National Eczema Association.

The cleanser is $18.00 ($16.56 with subscription), but the page lists no size, so we can't give a price per ounce. Best for dry or irritated skin. A poor fit for anyone who needs to compare cost per ounce before buying.

7. Krave Beauty

Krave Beauty product

Krave Beauty was founded in 2017 by Liah Yoo. Its site shows a B Corp logo, an "Animal Test-Free" badge, and 1% for the Planet marks. Great Barrier Relief is its barrier-repair serum.

The Matcha Hydrating Cleanser is $16.00 for 120 mL (4.06 fl oz, $3.94 per fl oz). That makes it pricier per ounce than Versed, Hero, Byoma, Pacifica, The Inkey List, and Naturium, and cheaper than Tower 28 ($4.00). Best for reactive skin and small routines. Hero ($2.17) and Byoma ($2.20) cost less per ounce.

8. Tower 28 Beauty

Tower 28 Beauty product

Tower 28 Beauty is makeup-led but also sells skincare. Founder Amy Liu says she has had sensitive skin her entire adult life. The brand claims to be the first and only to receive all three seals (National Eczema Association, National Rosacea Society, National Psoriasis Foundation) on all skincare products.

The SOS Gel Cleanser is $20.00 for 5 fl oz ($4.00 per fl oz). Best for eczema- and rosacea-prone skin. Not the pick if price per ounce drives your choice.

9. Good Molecules

Good Molecules product

Good Molecules claims "100,000 Five Star Reviews" on its site. It sells a Hydrating Facial Cleansing Gel in a 200 ml size at Target and Walmart. We couldn't verify a US price, since its own site showed EUR 12.00, so we give no per-ounce figure.

Best for shoppers who want to buy at a big retailer. Check the shelf price before assuming it costs less than Versed.

10. Bubble Skincare

Bubble Skincare product
Bubble Skincare product

Bubble Skincare sells a whole affordable routine. Its Knock Out spot treatment cites an independent 30-person study in which 97% showed improvement in blemishes (the brand's citation). One Reddit commenter named Bubble as an alternative to the discontinued barrier balm.

Its site blocked our price check, so we list no verified price. Best for a first full routine. If you have a specific barrier-repair need, Byoma has the more direct shopper endorsement.

How to choose a Versed alternative

  • Lost the Overnight Barrier Balm? Start with Byoma, which one shopper named as a swap. Krave also sells a barrier-repair serum, Great Barrier Relief.
  • Breakouts? Hero or The Inkey List.
  • Eczema or rosacea, and you want third-party seals? Tower 28 or Cocokind (NEA-accepted cleanser).
  • Vegan-first? Pacifica or Naturium, both on the brand's own claim.
  • Lowest price per ounce? Versed ($2.00) is the lowest of the cleansers we could price. Among those alternatives, Hero ($2.17) and Byoma ($2.20) are the lowest.
  • Outside the US? The Inkey List has UK and EU stores, and Byoma sells at Boots.
